Dixons Carphone reported a “strong” trading period in the first quarter of 2018/2019 in Ireland.

However, in a trading update, the group did not mention a recent data breach, which affected 10 million people across the company.

The retailer, which operates 89 physical stores in Ireland, claimed last month that only a handful of Irish customers had been affected by the breach. Yesterday Dixons Carphone said it had increased market share in all categories including TVs, computing, mobile phones and white goods in Ireland.

“Sales growth reflected an increasing demand from customers for better quality and more technologically advanced products,” Mark Delaney, MD of Dixons Carphone Ireland, said.

The company also cited an increase in demand for high-end kitchen appliances and smart TVs in the market.
